Bach lovers in the area, please attend the Idaho Bach Festival on October 25-26! This year, my co-director Michael Murphy and I are very excited to welcome our 2013 Scholar, violinist Nathan Olson. Mr. Olson is co-concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony and a distinguished Bach interpreter.
The program of the festival will be:
Student Concert, Friday October 25, at 12:30 p.m. in the Idaho Commons, University of Idaho. The program will include selected vocal and instrumental solos, four-part chorales, and other ensembles. Admission free.
Opening Gala Concert, Friday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Administration Auditorium, University of Idaho. Orchestral Suite in B minor, BWV 1067; Violin Concerto in E major, BWV 1042; “Erschallet, ihr Lieder” BWV 172. Admission: $5 for adults, free for children and students.
Faculty and Student Chamber Concert, Saturday, October 26, 10:00 a.m. in Haddock Performance Hall, Lionel Hampton School of Music, University of Idaho. The program will include Christ lag in Todesbanden and selections from The Art of Fugue. Admission: $5 for adults, free for children and students.
Chamber and Solo Concert featuring Nathan Olson, violin, Saturday, October 26, 7:30 p.m. in Haddock Performance Hall, Lionel Hampton School of Music, University of Idaho. Partita for Unaccompanied Flute, BWV 1013; Trio Sonata from A Musical Offering BWV 1079; Partita in D minor for Unaccompanied Violin, BWV 1004.
